iGolf, the leader in licensed golf course mapping is proud to announce the launch of Green Heat Maps—a long-awaited enhancement to its Terrain Data platform.

Available to developers and partners in Q2 2025, this highly-requested solution makes advanced green-reading technology easily-accessible to everyday golfers, directly from their smartphone, golf GPS devices and golf cars.

For decades, green reading has remained one of golf’s most difficult and subjective skills. iGolf’s Green Heat Maps aim to change that, delivering 3D heat maps with directional break analysis for 15,000+ golf courses across North America.

Some key features of iGolf’s Green Heat Maps include 3D Heat Maps with Directional Arrows (visualize slope severity and direction with gradient shading and intuitive arrows) and Auto-Oriented viewing (maps adjusting in real time, based on the golfer’s position and heading). This new capability adds tour-caliber putting insights—helping developers create smarter, more valuable apps for players of all skill levels.

“Green reading is what separates good rounds from great ones,” said Ryan Kimberling, Vice President at iGolf Inc. “Green Heat Maps provide the kind of actionable intelligence once reserved for Tour players and their caddies. Now, with a glance at your phone, you can take the guess work out of putting.”

More than just a green-reading tool, Green Heat Maps are part of a broader evolution and focus as iGolf enhances its libraries and tools from consumer goods to larger industry applications. Already powering consumer tools for yardage books, course guides, and in-app GPS for leading golf brands iGolf’s evolution expands it reach to actionable tools for golf course architects, course superintendents, maintenance equipment manufacturers (autonomous vehicles), irrigation systems and more.

Initially available for mobile app integration, Green Heat Maps will soon extend to iGolf Powered devices including watches, handhelds, trolleys, golf cars and gaming engines specifically Unity and Unreal.

With Green Heat Maps, iGolf is delivering what golfers have always wanted: a real-time answer to the questions about putts breaking, as the future of green-reading is here. And, with easy to integrate tools for partners, iGolf can streamline development by keeping all features and functions under one umbrella. Stay tuned for course heat maps announcement in Q4 2024.
