TaylorMade’s Milled Grind wedges have always had a bit of a cult following. Quietly solid, reliable around the greens, and often overlooked in favor of flashier names. But with the launch of the MG5s, that sleeper status might be about to change in a big way.

This is more than a minor refresh. TaylorMade went back to the drawing board—and the forge.

Finally Forged

It’s official: the MG5s are fully forged from soft carbon steel. That means better feel, tighter consistency from wedge to wedge, and the kind of feedback that makes you want to hit one more bucket of chips before the sun goes down.

TaylorMade already had a good thing going with milled soles, faces, grooves—even the hosel. But bringing forging into the mix adds that extra layer of refinement better players crave.

New Look, Sharper Bite

From address, the MG5 has been cleaned up. Slight tweaks to the leading-edge curvature and topline give it a more symmetrical, confident shape. It looks sharp—and plays even sharper.

The grooves got an upgrade too. TaylorMade introduced what they’re calling “saw-milled” grooves—sharper, steeper, and right up against the USGA’s limits. More spin, more control, especially when paired with the new “Spin Tread” tech—groove-like channels between grooves designed to manage moisture and maintain spin in wet conditions.

Translation: this thing still bites even when the dew hasn’t burned off.

A Wedge for Every Swing

The MG5 lineup includes six grind options, each dialed for different playing styles and course conditions:

SB Grind: The all-rounder. A great default if you’re not sure where to start.

SC Grind: A refined, versatile option with heel and toe relief. Tour-inspired.

SX Grind: Wide sole with subtle relief—great out of bunkers or softer turf.

HB Grind: High bounce with a clever tapered heel. Ideal for steep swings.

LB Grind: Low bounce for firm conditions and shallow angles. Sleek and surgical.

TW Grind: Tiger’s personal setup, evolved to match his current preferences.

It’s a true à la carte approach to wedge fitting, and that’s a big win for players who want gear that matches how they actually play.

Built to Be Yours

The MG5 wedges are available in Satin Chrome across all lofts and grinds, and Charcoal in select specs. You’ve got stock shaft options in steel or graphite, and the standard Golf Pride Z-Grip Plus 2 comes ready to go.

TaylorMade is also continuing its MyMG5 customization program, which means you can stamp it, paint it, grip it, and finish it however you like. Want your college logo on there? Done. Prefer aged copper or raw over chrome? Go for it.

Pricing starts at $199, with the Tiger-endorsed TW Grind landing at $219.99.
